2025 Version 1 Code of Conduct – CoastalNet Business Networking Group

Our networking group is a supportive, friendly, inclusive, and professional space for small business owners, freelancers, and entrepreneurs. To ensure every attendee has a positive and productive experience, we ask that all participants follow this Code of Conduct.

Respect & Inclusivity

Treat all attendees with courtesy and respect, regardless of background, business size, industry, gender, ethnicity, or beliefs.

We have a welcoming, friendly, supportive environment—discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind will not be tolerated.

Professional Conduct

Conduct yourself in a manner that reflects professionalism and integrity.

Avoid aggressive sales tactics or hard pitching. Networking is about relationships, not just transactions.

Allow space for others to speak; don’t dominate conversations.

Time & Structure

Please arrive in a timely manner and stay for the duration whenever possible. The event runs for 2 hours, and punctuality ensures everyone benefits.

Respect any time limits during structured networking activities ie our Well known 140 character "tweet" introduction or presentations.

Mutual Support

Be generous with advice, encouragement, and connections.

Share opportunities, not just offers. Celebrate others' wins as well as your own.

Technology and Privacy

Keep phones on silent and avoid distractions during presentations or group discussions.

Ask permission before adding someone to your mailing list or sharing their contact details. Be respectful, polite and understanding if they decline. 

Zero Tolerance Policy

Any form of intimidation, offensive language, or disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the event and the group.

The organisers reserve the right to follow up or take appropriate action if the code is breached.

The code of conduct is for everyone and should there be changes and challenges the code of conduct can and will be updated as required.
